Ancient or Antique Motor Vehicle Transactions

Requirements for Form HSMV 82040

In accordance with Section 3200865 of the Florida Statutes, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) issues antique license plates for former military vehicles.

Eligibility

To obtain an antique license plate for your vehicle, you must:

• Submit an application (Form HSMV 82040) to the FLHSMV.
• Provide documentation verifying the vehicle's age and historical significance.
• Pay the required fees.

Florida Statutes 320086 defines "ancient or antique motor vehicle" as "horseless carriage antique or historical license".
